Here's another unfinished autoportrait I was working on recently. In the end I messed it up and painted something else over it. Kinda regretting it now.. I might give it another shot some day soon.

Now imagine it being purple.... I think all those fluorescent colors confused the bejesus out of my camera and it keeps registering everything as blue. The painting is actually purple.
I'm tempted to touch up the forehead a little. (Famous last words....)

YAAAWWWNNN!!! (work in progress)

Just starting a new painting. I'm using Jen's picture of Col yawning painfully. This my second attemt in using acrylics, only because I forgot why I hate them so much. Well, I remeber now >:-/ On top of that I discovered fluorescent colors, so God help us all...

Mad stuff I do for a living- Jedward edition

Judge me all you want, I secretely love this tattoo!
I was asked to quickly design a template of  " I Love Jedward" tattoo for the Rumour Room and this is what I came up with. Than I had to draw it on Stephen's arm in the studio using  my black eyeliner. I wasn't 100% happy with the end result, perheaps because I had to do it in major panic just before the recording. He had it in two shows in a row, here's a link to one of them. He reveals the tattoo about 2:43 in:

Tv set in Aviva Stadium

This is a RTE Sport set for their studio in Aviva Stadium that I've co designed with Clyde Doyle last summer. We have put an insane amount of work into it and developed a mild milkshake addiction in the process.
At the time I was researching for a sci fy music video for friends, therefore the set has a faint Star Trek vibe.. The set can change colors so as you can see we had a brief fascination with purple.
The crap screen grabs, chair pics and the 3d drafts are done by me, the amazing photos with presenters by Clyde. Enjoy!

Somebody, please take that tiny brush away from me..
I wouldn't say this is finished but I'm leaving it as it is.

Monday 30 August 2010

This was less painful than I expected :-)) Nearly done, I just need to take a break and come back to it in a day or two. I have a feeling I made myself look like a leper but I'm not quite sure why. Maybe it's because I didn't really know what I was doing and I kept poking the painting with a teeny tiny brush with every single color of the rainbow for hours to no end.
The pic was taken indoors and it doesn't really show the proper colors and contrast (the background color is  bright turquise for example). I'll try to take a better picture when the painting is finished.

I'm trying to get my Painting Mojo back. I haven't as much as touched a painting since before Christmas and it became quite depressing at this point.
It's pretty hard to draw/paint laughing people. There's usually wrinkles, horrible teeth, a joker-like grin, flared nostrils, double chins, the horror!... So I'm experimenting on my own face as I'm not quite prepared to loose friends.
Here is the initial sketch/underpainting. No idea where this is going...

The Cafe was my favourite gig to work on, ever! Probably because the crew absolutely rocked :-))))
. It was on air already for 2 years when I was asked to radically change the look of the set. I though it would be a good idea to change it into one of these grungy places where anything goes.Where you can write on the walls, splash paint around, where furniture is upside down.  Something that I'd come across back home. So we textured everything OTT, splashed paint around and scratched the walls.
So here are some pics of the set from the dry run years ago, me after the very last episode in front of the neon sign, set in the making in Shadow Creation's workshop and some color references I gave to the guys from Shadow. Also a couple of links to the YouTube videos of the performances. Enjoy!

So I haven't been posting much these days. I don't have much material as I've been a busy bee at work. I'm looking forward to taking some time off to paint and get my bird freak back on again. Until than- here are some pictures of a tv set I did a couple of years ago for a children talent show. Please forgive the watermark, I tried to make as little obnoxious as possible.
The brief was to create simple shapes that would symbolise ice and everything that is cold and frosty. It also had to be able to change it's look in a heartbeat which was achieved by using backlit materials and lighting color changes.  So here are my initial sketch, white model and the finished set in studio.Enjoy!
